Backing on the horse who nearly won in the last run

Back horses that fall in the first [number] favourites, where [number] is the number of winning places in this race. The runner should have a record of either 2nd or 3rd place in the previous race where it took part. Eventually green up this bet at 5 ticks (or any other offset of your choice).

The logic behind this is that punters tend to underestimate the probability of such horse becoming a winner in the next race, so its price will likely be higher than the actual odds of winning. This creates an opportunity for a high value bet.

This is an example of a qualifying horse:

Back on the horse based on last result in the Form

The main trigger (that one that backs) analyses the horse's Form which is a part of the Silks. There is a special condition for looking for patterns in the Form, in this case we're search for 2 or 3 (i.e. second or third place) as the last figure. In order for the program to check if the qualifying horse is among the top favourites, you'll also need to add Place markets to My Markets list.

In the constants you can edit the green-up profit edge which is 5 ticks by default. You can turn the greening-up trigger off altogether or experiment with it in a different way.

You can make a Royal Ascot special edition and add a condition that no other horse in the same market should be ridden by a jockey who won the previous Royal Ascot. You can find the list of winning jockeys on the web. Here is an example trigger file.
